8/12/2020 In-form Outrageous ready for Villiers

Outrageous (All Too Hard) will attempt to become the first horse in almost a decade to claim the Festival Stakes (Gr 3, 1500m)-Villiers Stakes (Gr 2, 1600m) double when he lines up in the Randwick feature on Saturday. The Michael, Wayne and John Hawkes-trained gelding showed plenty of ability as a juvenile and placed in the 2018 Sires’ Produce Stakes (Gr 1, 1400m), but has been inconsistent since, with only five wins to his name from 29 starts. However, Michael Hawkes believes the training trio finally have the five-year-old in the right frame of mind. "His mind is in a good spot at the moment. He is obviously two from two so the horse is great,” Hawkes said. "The light switch has obviously flicked on. He has always had good ability from day one as a baby but colts, they tend to get a bit wayward. Probably maturity is the biggest key." Outrageous will attempt to replicate the feat of Monton (Catbird), who was the last horse to win both races in 2011
